Obbattu (also called holige or puran poli) is the king of Karnataka festive sweets. A thin, delicate outer layer of maida encases a sweet filling of chana dal and jaggery flavoured with cardamom and saffron. Our obbattu is made by hand following a traditional recipe — served warm with a drizzle of ghee.

Obbattu is made in every Brahmin home during Ugadi, Ganesh Chaturthi and weddings — it is the taste of celebration.
