Bisibelebath (meaning 'hot lentil rice' in Kannada) is Karnataka's most beloved one-pot meal. Rice and toor dal cooked together with vegetables, tamarind and a special homemade spice powder called bisibelebath masala, finished with generous ghee and cashews. Our recipe uses a traditional spice blend with coriander, chillies, cinnamon and stone flower (dagad phool) for that authentic flavour.

Bisibelebath is said to have originated in the royal kitchens of Mysore — today it is Karnataka's most comforting meal.
