Idli is the quintessential Brahmin breakfast — soft, pillowy steamed rice cakes made from a naturally fermented batter of rice and urad dal. At Shastrys Cafe, our idli batter is fermented overnight the traditional way, giving each idli its characteristic lightness and slightly tangy flavour. Served with freshly ground coconut chutney and a steaming bowl of homemade sambar — the way most of our regulars love it.
